Cesca Lucas Garden Design Services

Initial consultation
The first step is a free onsite consultation where I'll meet you in the garden to discuss your vision and answer any questions you have about the different stages of the design process. If you decide to move forward, I'll prepare a quotation detailing services provided which will start with a site analysis and garden survey.
Completing a client questionnaire is a key step in our process. It helps me to understand your unique style, needs, and budget so I can design a beautiful, practical outdoor space just for you.
Whether you're looking for a full garden redesign, a planting plan, or ways to adapt an existing space, I have the expertise to design and source. As a local business, I am passionate about creating well-designed outdoor spaces that work for the individual.

Concept Design and Moodboards
Every outdoor space is different but all gardens can be the heart of a home. Whether you wish for a tranquil, shady nook, a private, therapeutic haven, a sustainable corner in an urban garden or a growing space for children or vegetables, this is the stage where we double check your requirements.
All ideas will be discussed and refined together forming an agreed brief. Moodboards are essential tools in bringing your garden vision to life. They enable clear communication of design ideas, allowing you to be actively involved in the creative process.
These moodboards can illustrate the overall atmosphere of your entire garden or focus on specific zones. They are also practical tools for exploring various options for hard landscaping, planting styles, water features, and other design details. At this stage, garden layout is our focus, concept designs are created in 2D & 3D to support this visualisation process.

Final Design
Once you've approved the concept design, I will create a detailed Master Layout Plan. This scaled drawing will specify all materials, the overall feel of the new planting, and show the exact placement of every new element within your garden. This plan serves as a precise blueprint for bringing your approved design to life.
If the garden requires technical drawings these will be developed for contractor use, detailing construction drawings and specifications.

Planting Plan and Plant Sourcing
The planting plan is a detailed guide that brings your garden to life. It includes a plant schedule with the exact names, sizes, and quantities of all proposed plants, which is essential for accurate costing and ordering.
I also provide a mood board to give you a clear sense of the planting style and colours, so you can visualise the final look. An optional maintenance schedule can be included, giving you or your gardener the confidence to care for your new space for years to come.
Sourcing quality plants is something I am passionate about and using my trusted links with local nurseries and national suppliers is a suggested option. It is also recommended that clients use our layout and planting up services.

As the garden grows
Post installation support is an option on offer to monitor the garden with regular site visits. As the garden matures over time this can help you to nurture the planting through its natural cycles and be at its best.

About
My journey as a professionally trained garden designer, based right here in the Cotswolds, began with a degree in Geography. That background gave me a deep appreciation for the landscape, which is at the heart of my work.
I then went on to study for a professional diploma in garden design at the Cotswold Gardening School. This training provided me with the skills and design principles necessary to create practical, beautiful garden designs on a variety of scales.
When I begin a project, my main focus is on both design and sustainability. By focusing on the health of your soil and the richness of biodiversity, I design a space that works with nature.
The garden is so much more than just an outdoor space; it's truly becoming another room of your home. A place to welcome friends, relax with family, or simply retreat to for a quiet moment. It's a space that needs to work hard for you, coping with the seasons while serving many different functions. For me, it’s always so inspiring to step into a new garden and reimagine its potential, creating a design that unlocks all the possibilities and feels like a true extension of your life.
